Protests against ICE are planned across the U.S. following recent shootings in Minneapolis and Portland, Oregon. In Minneapolis, a coalition of migrant rights groups called for a peaceful demonstration at Powderhorn Park, near the site of the shooting, to celebrate the life of Renee Good and demand an end to deadly violence. The protests have been generally peaceful, contrasting the violence that plagued Minneapolis after George Floyd's killing in 2020. However, some confrontations occurred between protesters and agents guarding the federal building near the airport. Minneapolis police cited and released at least 30 people during Friday night's protests, which drew hundreds. The Trump administration has deployed thousands of federal officers to Minnesota, citing allegations of fraud involving Somali residents. Some officers were transferred from Louisiana, where they were part of a previous operation.
