Surrey council has granted planning permission for a brand-new facility in Frensham, ensuring their vital work can continue.
This isn't just about bricks and mortar; it's about hope. Pam Robinson, Change of Scene's CEO, expresses the profound relief felt by everyone involved: "After years of living with the threat of closure, this approval means everything. Parents and children can finally breathe easy, knowing we're here to stay." The new building, generously offered on a 25-year lease by fellow charity Wishanger Wellness, will feature a cabin, kitchen, sensory room, and craft space, creating a nurturing environment for learning and growth.
And this is the part most people miss: currently, Change of Scene can only support three or four children at a time. The new facility will double their capacity, allowing them to help seven children simultaneously and significantly reduce their long waiting list. With a June deadline to vacate their current site, construction will be a race against time, but Robinson is determined: "It's all systems go!" she declares, her voice brimming with optimism. Some children have already visited the new site, and their enthusiasm is palpable. "They loved it," Robinson beams.

As the Waverley Borough Council planning documents highlight, the new facility will make a "notable and important contribution to education and health provision in the borough."
