The team is surging ahead of the February 5th trade deadline, and the answer lies in the resurgence of key players. Even with late changes to the lineup, like Jimmy Butler's last-minute absence for personal reasons, the Warriors showcased their depth. Eight players scored in double figures, and they sunk 20+ three-pointers for the third straight game in a dominant victory over the Hornets. Every Warrior who played against Charlotte hit a three-pointer, with Draymond Green leading the charge with 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
After a rough patch that saw them fall below .500 a month ago, the Warriors (now 24-19) have found their rhythm. They've established clear roles, built trust within their rotation, and can handle unexpected changes without missing a beat. Coach Steve Kerr even noted, "This is the most momentum we’ve had since we started out 4-1."
But here's where it gets interesting: the team's recent success has coincided with significant contributions from their bench players.
Will Richard stepped up to start, and Buddy Hield seamlessly filled the void. However, the most critical piece of the puzzle? De'Anthony Melton.
Since returning from ACL surgery, Melton has become Golden State's most reliable veteran bench player. His impact has grown significantly over the last month.
Melton's recent performance is undeniable. He scored a team-high 24 points, with a stunning 13-point third quarter that electrified the Chase Center crowd. This performance followed a 23-point effort against Portland and a strong shooting night against Milwaukee. In his last ten games, Melton has averaged 16.2 points while disrupting on the ball, driving to the basket, and creating opportunities for his teammates.
Shooting at 39.3% from deep, Melton has seamlessly integrated into the Warriors' offense, centered around Steph Curry.
Curry himself praised Melton, calling him "a gamer" who can score, create, and disrupt defensively. Green agreed, stating that Melton's contributions make the team "completely different."
Adding to the Warriors' bench strength, Al Horford has also been solidifying his role. In the last 10 games, the veteran has averaged 7.7 points and 5.2 rebounds.
Brandin Podziemski has also been on a hot streak, scoring at least 14 points in each of the Warriors' last four wins.
