A former WWE superstar has revealed the challenges she faced during her time with the company, describing it as a constant battle against an invisible barrier.
Breaking Through the Glass Ceiling
The ex-Damage CTRL member, now known as Charlie, is making her highly anticipated comeback to the ring after a year-long hiatus. Her release from WWE last May, alongside other notable names like Braun Strowman and Shayna Baszler, has sparked curiosity among fans.
Charlie is set to face former AEW Women's World Champion Kris Statlander at Pro Wrestling Eve's Wrestle Queendom on March 8, marking her first match since leaving WWE. In an interview with Busted Open Radio, she opened up about her journey and the reasons behind her departure.
"I'm incredibly grateful for my WWE experience. The people I met and worked with, especially the locker room, hold a special place in my heart. But I needed some time away to rediscover my passion for pro wrestling and rebuild my confidence as a wrestler," she explained.
Charlie admitted that injuries were a significant hurdle during her WWE tenure, but it was the feeling of hitting an invisible barrier that left the biggest impact. She was surprised by the timing of her release, especially considering the recent Intercontinental tournament.
"Injuries could have been a factor, and the management change probably played a role too. I felt like I was always fighting a glass ceiling, even when I thought I'd finally break through. There were so many things beyond my control," she shared.
Now, Charlie is eager to get back in the game and explore new opportunities. She's open to working with AEW or TNA and is focused on getting her career back on track.
But here's where it gets controversial... Do you think WWE's decision to cut Dakota Kai was a mistake? Could Charlie be the next big name to join the All Elite roster? Share your thoughts in the comments and let's discuss!
